Around the World in So Many Days

I  am back in South Korea after surviving almost 18 months abroad.   Here are some pics to document the final part of my voyage, which unlike the first part which was undertaken by cargo ship and bus, was undertaken by plane instead.

I have now officially traveled around the world, by cargo boat from Busan to Buenaventura, Colombia, and from there to Curitiba, Brazil, by bus, and by plane from Curitiba back to South Korea.

This is João Nascimento. He was an invaluable help to me for the slightly longer than one year I was in Curitiba, Paraná, Brasil. This picture was taken in the Curitiba airport.

The mountains, perhaps the Tien Shan, before the dry barrens of the Gobi Desert. Somewhere over western China.

When the Chinese aviation authorities told us that we must detour, the pilot came over the radio and told us that we would have to refuel in Beijing because of lack of fuel. So, it was down through the pea soup into the pollution. Beijing international airport.

The Yellow Sea, the body of water dividing Korea from China, is incredibly polluted, and full of nasty currents. Here we have muddy waters mixing with really muddy waters. Incheon International Airports is mere kilometers away.
