(Not) Finding a Phone in Seoul

I scoured the city, and realized that they had ripped out most of the payphones and replaced them with automatic subway ticket vending machines.  There were a few to be found at various bus terminals and in some subway stations, but by and large, a wild goose chase.  For people like me who had neither a phone nor a computer, this type of pursuit can prove quite fruitless.

I took a picture of the phone pictured below.  I found it in a restaurant, but it was strictly decorative.

P.S.  Since posting this post, I have come across many payphones, but not nearly as many as a year ago before I left the land of the idling car engines.  When you are looking for something specifically, it seems as if it never existed.

For example, when you are looking to get a haircut, all the barbershops are closed.  Right after you get a haircut, however, you will pass a plethora of barbershops, many of them offering better deals than ever you had imagined.

Most significantly, I have gotten a smartphone.  This means I will be looking down from here on.
