Sea Shepherd Society Strikes Again

Here’s a story about some brave people fighting to stop the slaughter currently underway in the Southern Ocean.

I know, I know, they are nuts, a lot of you think.  And philosophically, I realize that a harp seal–a mammal with big brown eyes–should have equal weight with the lowly cockroach.  But this is the stickler   The harp seal’s numbers, while currently healthy, could plummet at any moment.  This is why they need protection, and the Sea Shepherd Sociiety is protecting them, along with countless other denizens of the deep.  The cockroach’s numbers are secured.  It will go on for ever, even after we are long, long gone.  And that is NOT the Batmobile below.

But the real significance of the work that the Sea Shepherd Society does is that they speak for so many of us who either don’t have the time, or the willingness to put ourselves between the whale and the harpoon, to put ourselves in harm’s way, if you will.
